dvdbackup software package provides tool to rip DVD's from the command line, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dvdbackup
dvdbackup is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dvdbackup package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dvdbackup *
You will get with dvdbackup package name, version, architecture and description in a table
